The Power of Attorney Symposium was today at the Busbee Center on the campus of Gwinnett Tech. Our expert panelists included Georgia State Representative, Chuck Efstration; Chief Assistant District Attorney for Cobb County Georgia, John Melvin; Chairperson of the Northeast Georgia/Cobb Elder Abuse Taskforce, Jason Marbutt; and Georgia Legal Aid attorney, Nancy Pitra.

More than 70 participants at the Power of Attorney Symposium learned more about the legislation that was enacted in July of this year, and how they could protect themselves and their loved ones.

Advocacy Manager Melissa Sinden reminded the audience that the Power of Attorney material is solely for informational and educational purposes, NOT for the provision of legal advice. She stated that if anyone faced any of the problems that were discussed today, they should consider consulting an attorney in their state to discuss their individual legal questions.

Rep. Efstration received the 2017 Georgia Gerontology Society David Levine Legislative Award presented by Jennifer Beamer with the Atlanta Regional Commission, Kathy Floyd with the Georgia Council on Aging, and Kathy Simpson with the Georgia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
