Have documents with personal information that you need to dispose of safely? AARP Alabama, along with WBRC Fox 6 and Secure Destruction Service, will be hosting the final Shred-A-Thon of the year for the Birmingham area. This time, we're in Bessemer.

We will be at the Bessemer Civic Center, just off I-59/20 near Academy Drive, from 7 AM to 1 PM.

PLEASE NOTE: You can bring up to 3 bags or 3 copy paper-sized boxes of documents (paper only) to shred. No metal, three-ring binders, or large metal binder clips will be accepted.

AARP’s Fraud Watch Network recommends that you shred the following:

•Credit card offers you get in the mail
•Old bills
•Old bank statements
•Tax records and receipts (keep for 7 years)
•Medical records and bills (keep for a year)
•Pay stubs (keep for a year)

The event is FREE. We do ask that you consider a non-perishable food donation to the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama. NO CASH DONATIONS, PLEASE!
