AARP Arkansas seeks 2017 Andrus Award nominees

MA-Andrus1200x1200

AARP Arkansas seeks nominees for the 2017 Andrus State Award for Community Service, AARP's most prestigious and visible volunteer tribute.

The Andrus Award honors Arkansans 50+ who are sharing their experience, talent, and skills to enrich the lives of their community members.

The Andrus Award winner is nominated by his or her peers and the award recipient is chosen by a special selection committee consisting of AARP Arkansas volunteer leaders. Nominations will be evaluated based on how the volunteer’s work has improved the community, supported AARP’s vision and mission, and inspired other volunteers.

The application deadline is Friday, June 30, 2017. The award recipient will be announced in the fall.

AARP Andrus State Award for Community Service nominees must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Nominee must be 50 years or older.
  • The achievements, accomplishments, or service on which the nomination is based must have been performed on a volunteer basis, without pay.
  • The achievements, accomplishments, or service on which the nomination is based must reflect AARP’s vision and mission.
  • Couples or partners who perform service together are also eligible; however, teams are not eligible.
  • This is not a posthumous award.

Please nominate an outstanding Arkansan today! More information about nominating a volunteer is available here. For further information, or to request that paper copies of the nomination materials be mailed to you, email araarp@aarp.org or call 1-866-554-5379.

AARP’s commitment to volunteer service can be traced back to the life and vision of founder Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus. From the beginning, her motto, “To serve, not to be served,” has shaped AARP’s community service efforts at the national, state and local levels.

Last year, AARP through the Andrus Awards recognized 51 outstanding individuals from around the country.
