Family caregivers do remarkable things every day to care for their loved ones. We help with bathing and dressing, meal preparation, managing finances, transportation, grocery shopping, and so much more. There are more than 820,000 of us in Washington state performing this great labor of love – but it’s not without its challenges. It can be stressful and time consuming - and it can also feel incredibly isolating at times. Some of us might feel like we’re in it all on our own.
AARP Louisiana will host its annual Caregiver Day at the Capitol on Tuesday, April 16. The event honors 680,000 unpaid family caregivers in the state—and gives them a chance to let lawmakers know what kinds of support their loved ones need. The event will include meetings with legislators, lunch with several lawmakers and special recognition by the legislature in the early afternoon.
During Women’s History Month, we are looking at key issues that impact women, and caregiving is a topic that is certainly at the top of our list.
AARP Real Possibilities by AARP Michigan is a weekly TV show airing every Tuesday on ABC 53 in Lansing and Jackson at 9:00 am and ABC 4 West Michigan at noon.
