AARP, DNR team up to offer hiking, biking, paddling

AARP Michigan has entered an exciting, new partnership with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to offer free classes and hiking, biking and paddling outings focused on outdoor recreation, safety … and fun.

Events in July, August and September include:

  • A guided hike on the Lansing River Trail. Learn about good form walking, the diverse trail system and urban wildlife. The hike will be offered July 8, Aug.12 and Sept. 9 from 10-11 a.m. Meet at Crego Park, 1600 Fidelity Rd., Lansing. Call 1-877-926-8300 or visit http://aarp.cvent.com/gfwhikelansing.
  • A bike trip along the Lansing River Trail. Following a short AARP presentation on how to protect your finances, enjoy a guided bicycle ride on the River Trail. The bike ride will be offered July 8, Aug. 12 and Sept. 9 from 2-3 p.m. Meet at the Benke Fish Ladder parking lot, 216 E. Grand River Ave. in Old Town Lansing.   • Experience the AARP Life Reimagined program followed by a float down the Grand River in a kayak. Learn about river wildlife and navigating a kayak. The paddle trip will be offered Aug.7 and Sept. 7 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. or 6:30-7:30 p.m. To RSVP and/or rent a kayak, call River Town Adventures at 517-253-7523. Meet at the Lansing City Market Drive in Lansing. Maximum 25 participants.
