2013 Driver Safety enewsletter_OAM_iconHow long has it been since you took driver’s ed? I recently found out that the best place to put your hands on the steering wheel is not “10 and 2″ like I learned so many years ago (I’d rather not count how many years it’s been since I learned the finer points of driving back in High School).  That got me wondering what else I’ve been doing wrong all these years? I realized I could use a refresher and plan to take the AARP Driver Safety course to help me stay sharp behind the wheel.  If you could use a refresher, now is a great time!  AARP Driver Safety is offering it’s online course at a discounted rate of only $5 from May 1 - May 31 as part of our celebration of Older Americans Month.

The AARP Driver Safety course is the nation’s first and largest refresher course for drivers age 50 and older. It has given millions of drivers the skills and tools they need to drive today’s roads safely, so they can stay independent for many years to come. The course is designed to:

• Update driving skills and knowledge of the rules of the road.
• Learn about normal age-related physical changes and how to adjust driving to compensate.
• Reduce the chances of traffic violations, accidents and chances for injuries.
• Get an insurance discount.  Auto insurance companies in most states provide a multi-year discount to AARP graduates.

Learn more at www.aarpdriversafety.org.  Participants should enter the promo code OAM2013 when registering for the online course.
