Are you a consumer who wants to learn more about how to save money or to protect yourself?  Learn more about New Jersey’s consumer resource programs designed to help you make educated choices, when it comes to your health and your pocket book!  Join AARP New Jersey and the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs at the third annual Consumer Resource Fair Series.

Want a Sneak Peek?

One of the programs you will have the chance to learn more about is the Identity Theft Prevention Act.  This law is the strongest of its kind in the nation and allows you to actually “freeze” your credit to protect yourself from becoming a victim of identity theft.  When your credit is frozen, nobody can apply for a credit card using your information.

If you need to apply for a loan or a credit card, you can then unfreeze your credit so that you and only you can access it when you want.  You can replace the freeze after you have obtained your new credit line.  This act, known as the “security freeze”, is the best line of defense against identity theft.

Best of all, it is free and managed by you!  This is just one of many programs that will be featured at the Consumer Resource Fair.  Come and learn more.  Your will be glad you did and  hopefully will learn about at least one new program that can help improve your life.
