CARY, NC – AARP North Carolina provided the Cary-based US Veterans Corps with a one-thousand dollar contribution today to help support their disaster relief efforts for flood victims in South Carolina.

This weekend, the US Veterans Corps will be deploying hands-on support to help out in areas around Ft. Jackson, SC, which suffered widespread damage from the storms.

According to AARP North Carolina Director Doug Dickerson, “AARP understands the needs of our Veterans and their families. From our advocacy efforts to our caregiving resources and other benefits, we address the unique challenges confronting the nation's heroes. Today, the biggest challenge for many South Carolina Veterans is flood recovery. The US Veterans Corps is helping meet their needs by being there in a time of crisis.”

US Veterans Corps Executive Director Andrew Ladner said, “Our mission will expand beyond Ft. Jackson as volunteers will help out in areas in North and South Carolina that suffered the most damage from the storms. Coastal Carolina including areas around Camp Lejeune will also be served by our volunteers in the coming days and weeks.”

The US Veterans Corps is comprised of military Veterans, spouses, dependents and patriotic citizens performing community service with a mission and deployment attitude. The Corps has volunteers from every US military branch, as well as military spouses, children, ROTC, and foreign allied military.
