Area Agency on Aging to Host Assistant Secretary for Aging Lance Robertson and author/psychologist Dr. Jamie Huysman at Circle of Care Celebration Luncheon

West Palm Beach, Fla. – Presented by AARP Florida, Your Aging & Disability Resource Center will be celebrating its 29th anniversary and its future at the Circle of Care Celebration Luncheon at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts on November 9, 2017. Featured guest presenters include newly appointed Assistant Secretary for Aging Lance Robertson; Dr. Jamie Huysman, Vice President of Provider Relations and Government Affairs at WellMed Medical Management, well-known for his work fiercely advocating on behalf of family and professional caregivers; and, Jeff Johnson, AARP Florida State Director.

With a very special focus on caregiving and, in particular, caregiving for veterans, this year’s event provides an opportunity to draw national attention to a truly critical need. We will be announcing our veteran’s directed care program which we are calling VIP for Veterans Independence Program. Ours is an enhanced program to include Powerful Tools for Caregivers providing practical, educational information to those with the very difficult and often overwhelming job of caregiving. And, through a partnership with Palm Beach County and the VA, the RELIEF program will offer family members and loved ones providing constant care a much-needed break.

“America’s veterans, and those who care for them when they can no longer care for themselves, deserve the best we can offer,” said AARP’s Florida state director, Jeff Johnson. “AARP Florida congratulates the Area Agency on Aging of Palm Beach and the Treasure Coast on its service to our veterans.”

In the nonprofit world, age symbolizes strength, endurance and security in an unpredictable environment. The Area Agency on Aging represents a solid, essential entity dedicated to promoting, supporting and advocating for the independence, dignity and wellbeing of seniors, adults with disabilities, veterans of all ages and those who care for them in a manner that values diversity, reflects the communities we serve and embraces the collaboration of the aging network.

Tickets are $95/person or $45/person for AARP members and veterans.
