The ART of Wellness Event

May is mental health awareness month, you may or may not know that 1 in 5 individuals in the U.S. suffers from a mental health condition. Unfortunately many more experience symptoms of conditions such as depression, anxiety or post-traumatic stress disorder and don't ever seek help. There is a local nonprofit in Denver working to change the stigma surrounding mental illness, in fact the Colorado Mental Wellness Network (The Network) is comprised of individuals who live with these conditions and use their experiences to help others. www.coloradomentalwellnessnetwork.org

The Colorado Mental Wellness Network (The Network) is a community of individuals who live with mental health and/or substance use disorders and the people who support them. Together we fight unfair discrimination against people living with disabilities, bring awareness to the "normalcy" of our conditions and teach community members self-care skills for healthier minds and bodies. Additionally The Network trains, employs, and supports peer recovery coaches in Colorado - these amazing peers use their personal journeys to guide others toward self-sufficiency and mental wellness.

One of the ways you can recognize all those who live with mental health conditions is by attending the Colorado Mental Wellness Network's  fourth annual spring fundraising event the  The ART of Wellness. This fun-filled event is taking place  Thursday, May 18th at the  Artwork Network (818 Santa Fe Drive) from 5:30-8:00 p.m.!  Come learn more about The Network, enjoy food, drink, an "artsy" silent auction, and meet artists who live in recovery and use art as an outlet for expressing their emotions. You might just go home with an amazing work of art as all artists will be selling their pieces with a percentage going to the organization.
