Soup for Seniors began in October of 2006 as a Make a Difference Day Project for LOA’s Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Programs.  That first year we had very modest goals of serving those within the program as well as the Meals on Wheels recipients.  The community fully embraced the project.  So much soup and crackers was donated that the LOA was able to service all of its clients, other needy seniors in the community as well as others in …

Eight out of 10 people age 45 and older say they want to remain in their homes for as long as possible, according to an AARP survey. However, that becomes challenging for people who have difficultly writing checks and managing finances. AARP has joined forces with Senior Connection’s award-winning Volunteer Money Management Program to help make a difference. Connie comes to Good Mojo in Norfolk, VA every week to volunteer for a few hours. She dusts, straightens and remerchandises the housewares section.  It may not sound like life changing work but to ForKids client, Randy and her rising 2nd and 4th grade kids, Connie’s time has been transformational.
