Nice to see a category specifically for folks of AARP age!  Cheer on this seasoned team when the 7th annual 1883 Black Ice Pond Hockey Championships return to White Park in Concord from Friday, February 10 – Sunday, February 12!

The tradition began in 2011 with a mission to help maintain and expand ice skating opportunities throughout the City of Concord.  In the past, proceeds from the event have aided in the restoration of local skating rinks, provided discounts for youth hockey equipment, and been set aside for a proposed multi-purpose facility in White Park to replace the old skate house.

The 3-day tournament includes ice sculptures, live music, fireworks, a bonfire, and lots and lots of hockey, including a team made up of just 50+ athletes.

Learn more about the Championship schedule, activities, and its history here.  Bring your family and enjoy one of New England’s quintessential winter pastimes!
