Celebrity Chef Returns to Wichita

ChefRockProfile

Celebrity Chef Rock Harper will be in Wichita on Saturday, August 13, 2016 to share his cooking skills with a group of African American men and women who want to learn more about preparing healthy meals.

AARP Kansas sponsors the class each year as a way of underscoring the importance of healthy eating, as well as exercise, to combat  diabetes and other health issues.  Diabetes and high blood pressure are just two of the diseases that disproportionately impact the African American/Black population.

Healthy eating may help prevent or at least manage some of these concerns. The cooking class, with recipes chosen by Chef Rock, helps participants learn techniques that will help them prepare healthy and tasty meals.

AARP surveys reveal that a majority of people want to remain in their homes and communities as they age. Healthy eating is just one way to help make that happen.
