In Cincinnati at Spring Grove Cemetery & Arboretum, Cincinnati Music Hall, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.

In Dayton at Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark, Dayton Masonic Center, a wine-tasting and social event at the Dorothy Lane Market, or recreational activities at Cox Arboretum MetroPark.

Spring Grove Cemetery & Arboretum, 4521 Spring Grove Ave.  45232

We’ll tour this National Historic Landmark via tram. At 733 acres, Spring Grove is the second-largest cemetery in the U.S. and features a remarkable collection of native trees, wildflowers and birds. Space is limited.

Join us for yoga/stretching exercises or a brisk guided walking tour. This beautiful 224-acre park features a rejuvenated 1930’s Pavilion, gardens, nature trails and more. Space is limited.

 

Friday, June 28, 10 a.m.- EVENT FULL

Cincinnati Music Hall, 1241 Elm St.  45202

We’ll tour Cincinnati’s premier classical music performance hall and a National Historic Landmark. Completed in 1878, Music Hall was built over a pauper’s cemetery, which has also helped fuel its reputation as one of the most haunted places in America.

National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, 50 E Freedom Way  45202

The Freedom Center offers insight into the struggle for freedom and Cincinnati’s role as a gateway for thousands of escaped slaves traveling via the Underground Railroad. A guided tour will last approximately two hours. Space is limited.

DAYTON EVENTS

 

Wednesday, June 19, 9 a.m. & 10 a.m.

Cox Arboretum MetroPark

Join us for yoga & stretching exercises (9 a.m.) or a brisk guided walking tour (10 a.m.) or both! This beautiful 189-acre park is a special place to escape with mature forests, gardens and prairies. Activities will be led by qualified guides and are free for AARP members with advance registration. Space is limited.

Wegerzyn Gardens MetroPark

Celebrating its 40 th anniversary, the gardens were a gift to the community through endowment by Benjamin Wegerzyn. The park is a popular for respite, spotting native birds and wildlife, and design ideas. This is a guided activity and free for AARP members with advance registration.

Dorothy Lane Market (Washington Square)

Dorothy Lane Market’s sommelier will lead a wine tasting social event to help introduce or expand your palette to some light and fun summer wines. Space is limited.

Dayton Masonic Center

Built by 450 workers—a majority of whom were Masonic Brethren—from 1925-1928, the Center was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. Only in recent years have areas of the Dayton Masonic Center become available to the public. Join us for a tour of the facility. Space is limited.
