Corporation Commission Rejects OG&E's Request for Demand Charge, Doubling of Customer Charge

Corporation Commission Rejects OG&E's Request for Demand Charge, Doubling of Customer Charge - Corporation Commission Orders OG&E To Pay Customer Refunds

AARP Oklahoma vigorously opposed OG&E’s $92.5 million utility rate hike proposal, you said #No2OGE and the Corporation Commission listened! The Corporation Commission rejected OG&E's request for a rate hike that would double the monthly OG&E customer charge from $13 to almost $27 and a costly residential demand charge.

"We are elated that commissioners rejected the outrageous residential demand charge and the charge proposed doubling of the monthly customer charge," said Sean Voskuhl, AARP Oklahoma State Director. "Both would have been harmful to residential customers and small businesses. While evidence showed a rate decrease was warranted, we are pleased customers will receive a refund pls interest for the bulk of the interim rates customers have been paying since last July."

AARP members and volunteers actively voiced their opposition to the proposed utility rate hike with more than 1500 letters sent to the Corporation Commission and hundreds of calls to the commissioners. OG&E already announced plans to file another rate case by the end of the year. Soon, AARP OK will be back asking for your help in fighting to keep your money where it belongs, in your pocket.
