The District’s Latino population has been growing steadily for decades, and AARP DC is ready to celebrate as a sponsor of La Feria de la Familia. The free Nov. 8 expo at the D.C. Armory will be hosted by Telemundo, a Spanish-language television network.

The family-friendly event will feature health screenings, fitness tips, technology advice, food discounts, mortgage information and other services for people of all ages in both English and Spanish. Bilingual AARP staff and volunteers will be on hand to provide information about caregiving, Medicare and financial planning. AARP Legal Counsel for the Elderly and the Senior Medicare Patrol will also be there to discuss Medicare issues and fraud. AARP's involvement will ensure that information and services for Hispanics 50 and older will be part of the mix, said Mariana Barrientos of Telemundo.
