Disappointed that HERO wasn’t heard

How can you reject a bill that’s referred to a HERO, right?!  If the name of the bill – HERO stands for Hoosier Employee Retirement Options – wasn’t enough to convince Indiana legislators of its merits, the policy should have.  This bill, House Bill 1349 authored by Rep. Sean Eberhart, would have expanded access to private retirement savings options for so many of our hard-working Hoosier friends.  We are experiencing a retirement savings crisis, both nationwide and right here in Indiana, and this bill really tries to address that problem by capitalizing on the fact the people are 15 times more likely to save for retirement if they can do so through work.  We’ve spent the past several years working on this issue, so you bet we’ll be back at again.  Stay tuned.
