AARP Kansas is pleased  to once again to be part of the Financial Freedom Expo, set for Saturday, April 16, in Wichita. The Expo will provide participants with a wide variety of information and resources to promote financial literacy.  This free event will be held from  9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Urban Preparatory Academy located at 2821 E. 24th Street.

The Expo is organized by The Community Voice and the Kansas State Conference of NAACP branches which are lead partners of the event. The Financial Freedom Expo is part of Money Smart Week, a national public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances.

In the past, the Expo has attracted as many as 500 participants who attended one or more of 24 workshops sessions. The workshops cover an array of financial topics, and there is something for all ages, including children, teenagers, adults and seniors.  The community-based event also includes a vendor’s area, free credit reports, food and door prizes.

During the Expo, AARP will have a workshop with information about the Fraud Watch Network, an AARP tool that provides real-time alerts about the latest scams and tips on how con artists think to better arm Americans with information they need to spot and avoid frauds and protect themselves and their families.
