Healthcare Panel Discussion Set for Cheyenne

LC library

Wyoming AARP State Director Sam Shumway will participate in a panel discussion called, “Healthcare in Wyoming:  What is Next for Us,” on Sept. 14 from 6-8 p.m. at the Laramie County Library in Cheyenne.  The event is sponsored by the Wyoming Chapter of the League of Women Voters.

Shumway will be joined by Eric Boley of the Wyoming Hospital Association,  Wendy Curran of Wyoming Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and Jan Cartwright of the Wyoming Primary Care Association, as they discuss the current status of healthcare in Wyoming;  impacts of Medcaid cuts on availability of healthcare in the state, including nursing homes; changes to the ACA, pricing transparency, and what can Wyoming lawmakers do to improve upon health insurance coverage and availability of healthcare.

“Healthcare nationwide is evolving and AARP is dedicated to playing a large part in that discussion,” says Shumway. “It is important to understand the concerns of our citizens so we can take those points to our elected officials, policymakers and others to effect positive change on the healthcare system.”

The event is slated for two hours, including at least 30 minutes of public comments and questions.  The event is open to the public. For more information on the event, contact Lindi Kirkbride at lindikirkbridewy@gmail.com.
