How to Share Your Caregiving Story

Caregiving Ad Council2

The AARP state offices in Michigan and Ohio are encouraging members who care for an aging parent or other loved one to share their stories with millions of other people who perform the same important work and may need advice or a sympathetic ear.

AARP will share these stories with lawmakers to encourage them to develop resources to relieve the burden on family caregivers, who are the backbone of the nation’s long-term care system.

Michigan has more than 2.1 million family caregivers who spend 1.4 billion hours annually providing unpaid services valued at $15.5 billion. Ohio’s more than 2.4 million caregivers provide nearly 1.6 billion hours of service per year, worth about $17.5 billion.
