AARP Virginia State President will speak at April 9 free health and wellbeing conference in Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG _ AARP Virginia State President Bob Blancato will speak on new legislation that helps caregivers at the Hampton Roads Coalition of Agencies Conference on April 9. The purpose of the conference, titled Putting the Fun Back into Aging, is to educate older adults about the components of healthy aging and to empower them to take action to live healthy lives.

 

“We applaud the General Assembly for helping Virginia’s 1.7 million caregivers get the assistance they need,” Blancato said.

 

The public is invited to this free health and well-being conference sponsored by AARP Virginia and the Hampton Roads Coalition of Agencies. The conference is from from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9 at the King of Glory Lutheran Church and School, 4897 Longhill Road, Williamsburg.

 

People 50+ from across Hampton Roads will gather at this free event to learn smart strategies for healthy aging. Topics will include:

 

  • The Last Laugh: Putting the Humor Back in Aging
  • Pack Your Bags: Let’s Travel!
  • Lighthearted Ways to Care for Yourself: Tips for the Family Caregiver
  • Cooking Demonstration
  • Legislation that Affects Healthy Aging
  • Optimizing Your Health and Happiness through Rhythm

 

Free continental breakfast, seminars, exhibits, door prizes, prescription medication, consultations and free blood pressure checks will also be available.
