The North Dakota Legislative Assembly only meets every other year. However, during the “interim,” they have committees studying a wide array of important issues. AARP is closely watching issues related to health care access and affordability, home- and community-based services, retirement security, property taxes, and other issues important to 50+ North Dakotans.
To keep our Legislative Buddies current on these interim studies, AARP North Dakota is hosting a monthly call starting in November. During these calls, expect to hear what the interim committees have been discussing, when the next meetings will be, and how you can help ensure the voices of 50+ North Dakotans are heard during these crucial studies.
The first call will be at 1:30 p.m. Central Time Friday, Nov. 8. To join the call, dial toll-free 1-866-215-3402 and enter passcode 355-3648. We will plan to hold this call on the second Friday of each month at 1:30 p.m.
AARP Legislative Buddies are a network of volunteers and AARP members in every part of the state. There are legislators for whom AARP has no Legislative Buddies. We need interested individuals who have or can build a relationship with their local legislators, and who support AARP’s issues. Are you one, or do you know someone who should be one? If so, and you are willing to use your influence to help persuade legislators to do the right thing, please contact Josh Askvig at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone 701-355-3642.
