About 178,000 Mainers serve as unpaid family caregivers, and many of them work outside the home. That’s why AARP is working with ReACT, a coalition that addresses challenges facing employed caregivers, to identify best workplace practices, such as flexible hours, telework schedules and earned paid leave for caregiving tasks.

The two organizations are also reaching out to help employers create workplaces that are friendly to caregivers on the payroll, without sacrificing productivity.
