AARP Utah is working to win support for Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act. Supporters aim to persuade Gov. Gary Herbert (R) and legislators that the move would bring more federal dollars into state coffers, improve health care delivery and provide coverage for Utahns who cannot afford insurance.

If the state accepts federal funding for this purpose, the money would go toward extending Medicaid services to a larger pool of people who currently are uninsured—including adults without children and with annual income less than $15,856 per individual or $21,403 per couple.

AARP urges members to support Medicaid expansion by contacting the governor at gherbert@utah.gov and legislators at le.utah.gov (click on “legislators” to find yours).
