In a state whose legislature convenes for only 90 days every other year, AARP Montana plans to hit the ground running when the next session begins Jan. 2. The AARP state office will be pressing for legislation that affects more than 400,000 Montanans age 50-plus—including bills to support family caregivers, strengthen consumer protections and safeguard services that help Montanans continue to live at home as they age.

The AARP state office is asking members to voice their concerns about these issues from the comfort of their homes. It’s easy to sign up for online action alerts, which announce opportunities and include links to email lawmakers about important legislation.

“Our elected officials need to hear the voice of Montana’s 50-plus population loud and clear,” said Tim Summers, AARP state director. “Your emails can send a powerful message that you are engaged and paying attention to issues that affect you and your family.”
