AARP and the Office of the Montana State Auditor invite the public to an event addressing the financial challenges women face in retirement. The one-day Penny Conference is scheduled Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the University of Montana-Missoula School of Business Administration. Presenters will discuss money management, investment strategies, retirement planning, fraud prevention and salary negotiations. Speakers also will share personal stories of financial success.

Many women face financial insecurity because they earn 79 percent of what men do and typically live longer than men. Moreover, in a 2013 Pew Research Center poll, women were three times more likely than men to say being a working parent makes it hard to advance in a career.

The free conference includes lunch. Seats are limited, and registration is recommended. To register, go to csimt.gov/penny.
