LongIsland_JB

If you ever imagined you could be a stand-up comedy star, well, this may be your chance to unleash your inner comic.

AARP has teamed up with Long Island Comedy to showcase the talents of top comedians age 50-plus at venues across Long Island.

“Laughter begins at 50—and we’ll prove it to you!” said Paul Anthony, producer of the 50+ Comedy Tour. The tour is bringing comedians to the Gold Coast Arts Center in Great Neck, Saturday, Sept. 17; the Madison Theatre at Molloy College in Rockville Centre, Saturday, Sept. 24; and the Cultural Arts Playhouse in Syosset, Friday, Oct. 7.

A highlight of the tour is the 50+ Comedy Star contest. Aspiring performers can upload a short video of their act at 50PlusComedy.com. Entrants can attend a Comedy Prep Class. The winner will qualify for a full comedy training program and will be featured at a show.

This tour reflects the spirit of the AARP Life Reimagined program, which helps people discover what they truly want in life—and create a plan to do it. At each performance, audience members can learn about Life Reimagined events.

To save on tickets, go to 50PlusComedy.com and click on Schedule to find the venue’s phone number. Then call and ask for the AARP discount. —RONALD E. ROEL
