AARP welcomes Lorri Orwig to its eight-member Executive Council, which is AARP Colorado’s volunteer advisory committee that helps set AARP strategic priorities statewide.

Orwig, of Colorado Springs, is the newest volunteer to serve with the highest AARP Colorado volunteer body. The Executive Council works on issues that range from keeping living expenses affordable for Coloradans to planning community events.

Orwig has been chief development officer of Silver Key Senior Services in Colorado Springs for six years. She plans and develops all activities, fundraising and marketing for the organization. She has worked with older adults in a variety of non-profit organizations, as well as in health care and public safety, for more than a decade. She also volunteered for a number of organizations, including Senior Resource Council, St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, Academy School District 20 and the American Red Cross.

“Lorri Orwig is well-deservedly a leader in Colorado Springs, as well as El Paso County as a whole,” said AARP State Director Morie Smile. “We are so pleased that she has agreed to serve on the AARP Colorado Executive Council.”

Orwig has partnered with AARP on a number of projects prior to being named to the Executive Council and her background will be a great asset to AARP, Smile said.
