New Volunteer Lead for Updated Volunteer Portal

Stacie-LR Vol 2-1
Stacie Hawkins is the new lead for the AARP Volunteer Portal.

Stacie Hawkins of Normandy Park is the new Washington State volunteer lead for the updated and revised AARP Volunteer Portal online system.

Stacie went to AARP headquarters in Washington, DC in May to receive specialized training on the Volunteer Portal and is available to assist other volunteers in our state with organizing, reporting, and receiving reimbursement for expenses incurred in their activities. The purpose of the Volunteer Portal website, which volunteers can access through their own computers, is to enable people to be more effective in the community. It has information about volunteer opportunities and is the go-to spot for everyone in AARP.

“I’m excited to be a resource for our volunteers,” says Stacie. “I’ll be the ‘trainer of trainers’ and I’m honored to be the person who will bring more information to others.”

As a volunteer for AARP, Stacie has done both Life Reimagined and Fraud Watch Network presentations in the Seattle area.

“I’ve really enjoyed bringing the information to folks in our community,” said Stacie. “It’s been a neat opportunity. It’s my hope that by providing help with the Portal, I can help people be empowered for their own volunteer opportunities.”

More information will be coming on the Portal. For now, you can reach Stacie with questions at aarpwa@aarp.org.
