AARP VIRGINIA AND THE HOLIDAY PROJECT TO HELP SPREAD NOVA’S HOLIDAY SPIRIT!

Holiday Project Logo with Picture

AARP Virginia is inviting volunteers from across Northern Virginia to help spread the holiday spirit by visiting those who might not be able to celebrate. Throughout the holiday season, The Holiday Project organizes visits to people in nursing homes, hospitals and other facilities across Northern Virginia. Volunteers can join an existing visit team, start their own visit team, or register to participate as a group!

The Holiday Project is a nationwide nonprofit organization made up of thousands of volunteers from across the nation. Each year, The Holiday Project volunteers throughout Northern Virginia spend Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukah, and other holidays visiting those confined to hospitals, nursing homes, and other institutions. Every year there are 1.5 million Americans who spend their holidays confined to nursing homes; and over two-thirds without any living relatives.

It is the volunteers of The Holiday Project who bring that special holiday spirit and companionship to those whose holiday season can be a lonely experience. The heartwarming essence of the holiday season is not lost to those confined to nursing homes and other institutions, all thanks to those who truly reflect and emulate the holiday spirit of giving, sharing, and caring for one another.

The holiday season is full of special gifts, and The Holiday Project takes pride in providing the opportunity for volunteers to give a very special gift, and receive a gift that truly epitomizes the spirit of the holiday season.

Since its inception in the 1970’s, Holiday Project volunteers have visited with over a million and a half people confined in institutions all over the country on holidays throughout the year. For more information, go to http://www.holiday-project.org or call (804) 344-3061.
