Do you know the warning signs of investment fraud? Have transactions occurred in your investment account that you did not authorize? Did you know that Ponzi schemes continue to be one of the top frauds perpetrated against North Dakota residents?
Join AARP and the N.D. Securities Department and learn how to protect yourself from investment fraud. Speakers from the N.D. Securities Department will discuss who is most likely to be a target of investment fraud, how to identify red flags, examples of investment fraud in North Dakota, and how to protect yourself.
You’ll learn about free tools to help you research the backgrounds of brokerage firms and brokers, as well as investment adviser firms and representatives. And you’ll learn what steps you should take if you believe you are a victim of securities fraud or questionable transactions have occurred in your investment account.
The N.D. Securities Department is responsible for the enforcement of North Dakota securities laws that protect citizens from dishonest investment practices, and regulates the people and companies offering investment opportunities. The department investigates hundreds of complaints every year.
