Open Enrollment on the insurance Marketplace for the Affordable Care Act is now underway. So what’s that mean?
If you get your insurance through your workplace, or you have private health insurance, open enrollment is the time each year you get to review your coverage and make sure your plan still meets your medical needs, or you have the opportunity to switch to different plan that better meets the health needs for you and your family. For the first time since the Affordable Care Act was passed, the uninsured now have an opportunity to shop for and enroll in a health coverage plan.
Last week during a statewide telephone town hall, we heard a number of questions regarding the Affordable Care Act, with the most common question being “What does it mean for me?”
To help answer some of those questions, Erik Nelson, associate state director for advocacy for AARP South Dakota will provide an informational session on the Affordable Act and the Recently launched Insurance Market Place Tuesday, October 29, 9 AM MT, at the AARP Information Center in Rapid City’s Rushmore Mall.
Nelson will also provide an update on Medicaid Expansion efforts in South Dakota and provide a preview of the 2014 South Dakota Legislative Session.
The briefing is open to the public. AARP membership is not necessary to attend.
