The task force studying Medicaid Expansion in South Dakota will hold its third of four meetings in Sioux Falls today and tomorrow.  South Dakota Residents can offer comments on Medicaid Expansion during the task force’s public testimony portion of the meeting from 5:30pm-7:00pm today at the Ramkota Hotel.

At the end of the 2013 SD Legislative Session Governor Daugaard announced he would form a task force to further study Medicaid Expansion in South Dakota.  The Medicaid Opportunities and Challenges Task Force has previously met in Pierre and Rapid City.  Following this week’s meeting, the task force will likely gather for a final time on August 20 in Pierre.  This Fall, the task force will submit a report to Governor Daugaard that details Medicaid Expansion in South Dakota.

During the Sioux Falls task force meeting, the 29 members, which includes 8 state legislators, will listen to the citizen testimony and get updates on Medicaid Expansion in other states, projected state costs and savings if it is implemented in South Dakota, the anticipated impact Medicaid Expansion will have on hospitals and the economic, health and personal impacts of South Dakotans that would be eligible for coverage under Medicaid Expansion.
