Sioux Falls Transit Task Force Report

Over the last year, AARP South Dakota State Director, Sarah Jennings, has served on the Sioux Falls Transit Task Force (the Task Force).  The Task Force was put together by city leaders to address transportation challenges in the growing city.

The goals of the Task Force are to reduce paratransit costs, increase fixed-route services, foster a community-based collaboration for funding a coordinated non-profit transportation effort, develop a transit travel training program and provide a long-term financial status report to the City of Sioux Falls each year as part of the budget process.

The Task Force released its final report earlier this summer and the Sioux Falls City Council will vote on adopting the report on August 12.

The Task Force’s report implements common sense reforms that will ultimately expand fixed route service, save taxpayers money and offers additional transportation options to seniors.
