a has announced that State Representative Helena Moreno is the recipient of the 2016 Legislator of the Year Award for championing issues that improve the quality of life for older Louisianans.

AARP volunteers selected Representative Moreno of New Orleans because she fought for family caregivers on several fronts.  Representative Moreno led the fight on behalf of 600,000 family caregivers by co-authoring the Louisiana Family Caregiver Act and championing the bill on the House side, and led negotiations to craft a strong bill which improves the involvement of family caregivers during their loved one’s hospital stay
