Tell the Florida Public Service Commission That Florida Power & Light’s $1.34 Billion Rate Increase Proposal Is Not Justified

Affordable Utilities-3

Florida Power & Light (FPL) is asking the state Public Service Commission for a $1.34 billion increase in electric rates. AARP believes the level of this proposed rate increase isn’t justified.

FPL is already earning more than 9 percent returns in a business that is protected from competition by state law. Now they want returns of 11.5 percent.

Meanwhile, many Florida residential ratepayers struggle to earn 2 percent on their savings and investments. For consumers, the proposed rate increase means an annual increase of $150 to $240 a year within four years.

AARP is fighting to save you money on your utility bills so you can keep your hard-earned money in your pocket.

Sign our petition TODAY to tell the Florida Public Service Commission that Florida Power & Light’s proposed rate increase is not justified. If you want to talk to them directly, attend one of the public hearings the PSC are conducting throughout June.
