Town Hall for Vets in DeSoto County

They’ve served their country, and now AARP Mississippi is giving back by sponsoring a special town hall for veterans on Thursday, June 8, in DeSoto County.

Presenters will discuss issues that affect veterans and their families, such as Social Security, caregiving and fraud. Veterans are targeted in a variety of scams, such as fake military discounts for real estate, illegitimate “charities” that claim to be raising money for veterans, and offers to “buy out” military disability benefits or pensions at a fraction of their value.

The town hall will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Arena at Southaven, 7360 Highway 51 North in Southaven. The event is free, but registration is required; call 877-926-8300 toll-free.
