If so, the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE)* would like to visit with you about becoming a volunteer mentor.
SCORE, a volunteer organization sponsored by the Small Business Administration, is looking for volunteers statewide. SCORE has offices in Bismarck, Minot, Grand Forks and Fargo.
SCORE volunteers spend most of their time mentoring people wanting to start a business. They also assist some existing small business owners overcome problems.
You determine how much time you’ll spend as a volunteer and you’ll set your own schedule. There are no mandatory participation requirements.
Volunteer SCORE counselors can be any age. Most SCORE members have experience in business, finance, administration, education or government along with an interest in assisting others in fulfilling their dreams of owning a small business. Most members are retired business executives and owners, but it’s not a requirement. Some members have been active in other professions.
Being a SCORE volunteer is interesting, challenging, fun, and rewarding.
If you have an interest in assisting new entrepreneurs, you are encouraged to talk with other SCORE members at the office nearest you. They would be glad to visit with you about becoming a volunteer and to answer your questions.
