Walking the Dog

On Saturday, July 25 th, AARP in St. Louis in partnership with Lilly’s Music and Social House (2321 Arsenal) and SAGE, will be hosting ‘Laces & Leashes’ – a community walk audit with your dog.  AARP members and friends are invited to learn how to conduct a walk audit in their own neighborhood while walking your canine friend.  Following a brief orientation, dogs and their owners will hit the sidewalk in teams and start evaluating their respective route.  And that is only the beginning of the fun.

Following the audit, teams will share their findings making recommendations for changes that may improve the walkability of that area.  After all that hard work, humans and canines alike will be treated to some yummy food from Lilly’s and have ample time to socialize with their new friends.  In addition, participants will be provided with a toolkit that includes a checklist, tips on doing a walk audit and more that they can use in their own neighborhood along with some special gifts for participating.

Sound like fun?  Let us know if you are interested in attending by emailing us at StLouis@aarp.org and put ‘Laces & Leashes’ in the subject line.  We also want to know you and your dog’s name.

Put it on your calendar now…Saturday, July 25 th at 10:00 am at Lilly’s Music and Social House!
