Meet new friends and have fun while staying healthy as part of Roanoke’s newest walking group. We are moving forward!

Walking is a terrific way to keep your body and mind healthy, meet new friends and enjoy the beautiful weather as we transition from spring into summer.  That’s why AARP Virginia has partnered with a local chapter of the American Volkssport Association (AVA) to start a weekly walking group in Roanoke.

The walking group is scheduled to meet for four consecutive Mondays starting on June 5 at 9:00 AM in Wasena Park. A set schedule with locations, routes and times is located below – please note that locations may change weekly.

Walk Roanoke is free and open to all ages and pet friendly. Everyone is welcome to walk at their own pace, and walk as little or as much of the route as they choose. Advanced walkers will go 5K (approx. 3.10 miles). We expect the walking will be completed within 2 hours. Walkers are not required to be members of either organization to participate.

If you have any questions regarding the walking group, please email aarpwalkrke@yahoo.com.
