AARP DC is seeking applicants for the volunteer position of State President. This leadership volunteer position offers an opportunity to utilize your skills and experience to make a positive difference in the lives of the adults over the age of 50 in the District, and their families.

Among the stated responsibilities, the AARP DC State President:
- Serves as Chair of the Executive Council, an all-volunteer panel made up of team leaders from across the District, and the AARP State Director.
- Partners with the State Director and works with staff and volunteers to help achieve AARP’s vision, mission and strategic priorities within the District.
- Acts as a volunteer spokesperson for AARP DC, communicating AARP’s messages.
- Has the opportunity to build networks and partnerships with organizations and key DC decision-makers that will endure long after their term in office.
Who: An individual with strong interest in volunteering who would like to use his or her leadership skills and experience to help improve the lives of adults over the age of 50, and their families.
Time Commitment: Average of 15 or more hours per month, and as needed. Some travel, mostly within DC, is required.
Available Resources: AARP will provide volunteer travel accident insurance and commercial general liability insurance while performing volunteer responsibilities. Travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with existing AARP policies. AARP will provide a phone and/or iPad for AARP business and other resources as needed to support the State President in his/her role.
