AARP MD Legislative Aide Needed!

AARP will be fighting for 50+ Marylanders in Annapolis in 2018
Maryland's 2018 Legislative Session features several major issues important to AARP and its members.

Do you enjoy the legislative process? How about working with and advocating for like-minded individuals? Well, AARP Maryland needs your help! We’re looking to recruit up to two volunteers for advocacy and outreach. The ideal candidate(s) would be able to commute to Annapolis when available and provide assistance during the legislative session and beyond. Candidates should be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9 am to 1 pm (hours are negotiable). Mileage and parking expenses during the position's run will be reimbursable.

Some of the duties will include:

  • Scheduling appointments with elected officials at the local, state, and federal level.
  • Providing assistance with preparing testimony and tracking legislation.
  • Training other volunteers in all things advocacy and outreach.
  • Working with elected and appointed officials.

We ask that candidates have some background with the legislative process, a bachelor’s degree, and excellent reading, writing, and interpersonal skills. AARP advocates on policy issues that matter most to Marylanders age 50 and over and their families. With this opportunity you’ll be able to effect concrete change and make a lasting impact on your community and state.

Please contact Tammy Bresnahan at tbresnahan@aarp.org if interested. If you have a resume or background, please forward that as well. This opportunity will be open until September 30th, 2018.
