Clackamas, Oregon — Ruby Haughton-Pitts is the new state director for AARP Oregon, announced Kim Adler, AARP Regional Vice President. She takes over from Jerry Cohen, who opened the Oregon AARP office in May of 1996.
Haughton-Pitts returns to Oregon from AARP Illinois where she was Director of Outreach and Advocacy in Chicago. Previously she served as Director of Legislative and Public Affairs at CareOregon, Vice President of External Affairs for OCHIN (a nationwide nonprofit healthcare innovation center), and Vice President of Government Relations for U.S. Bancorp in Portland. She is a graduate of the University of Oregon.
Haughton-Pitts will oversee a staff of seven full-time employees as well as more than 150 state office volunteers who help achieve AARP’s Social Impact Agenda of empowering people to choose how they live as they age.
“I am delighted to join this amazing staff in addressing the needs of Oregon’s 50+ individuals and their families. This is a very special homecoming for me, and I am looking forward meeting new folks, reconnecting with old friends and delving into the work at hand,” said Haughton-Pitts.
