On Sunday, May 19, 2019, the ETA Chapter, of Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority, is sponsoring the 22nd Annual Presentation of the “Glowing Lamp For The Nurse” Awards. AARP Southeastern (SEVA) Virginia Community Ambassador Sharon Gooden-Harrell is one of the special honorees.
The Sorority is recognizing Ms. Harrell due to her service with AARP. Ms. Harrell is a calming presence on the volunteer team and helped to start the first AARP Walking Group in Hampton Roads (Chesapeake, Virginia). A retired nurse Ms. Harrell served as a Presenter at the recent AARP Virginia Volunteer College, where she led the workshop on “How to Start a Walking Group.”
Everyone is welcome to walk at their own pace, and walk as little or as much of the route as they choose from half a mile up to 3.1 miles. Walking for Grownups is free, open to all ages, walkers are not required to be members of AARP to participate.
