AARP Wyoming To Host TeleTown Halls For Gubernatorial Race

AARP Wyoming will host a pair of TeleTown Halls in which AARP Wyoming members will have the opportunity to get to know the Republican and Democratic nominees for governor and their stance on issues important to those age 50 and over.

Wyoming’s Republican Nominee, State Treasurer Mark Gordon, has selected 3 p.m. on October 10 for his appearance on the TeleTown Hall. Wyoming’s Democratic Nominee, Mary Throne, appearing at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 18.

The TeleTown Halls are one of many efforts offered by AARP Wyoming to educate its members and public on the gubernatorial race. The TeleTown Hall format connects thousands of AARP Wyoming members to a live phone conversation. Bob Beck of Wyoming Public Radio will moderate the conversations and open the TeleTown Hall with an introduction of the candidates, and allow the candidates to make an opening statement and address AARP Wyoming members. The candidates will then have the opportunity to answer questions from AARP Wyoming members.

AARP Wyoming has also posted a video voter guide to its facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/AARPWY/ ) of the Democratic and Republican nominees answering questions important to those age 50 and over. Topics include: state budget plans, retirement security, landline phone availability, access to telehealth, and more.

AARP is a non-partisan organization, which does not endorse candidates, nor does it have a PAC for the purposes of donating to candidates at any level of government. AARP also does not allow political advertising to its membership in its social media channels, its newsletter, or other publications it produces. AARP Wyoming does perform advocacy for all Wyoming citizens age 50 and over.
