Christina Cultural Arts Center Inc. and Premiere Sponsor AARP welcome Philadelphia’s esteemed Eleone Dance Theatre to Wilmington to present the holiday dance musical, “Carols in Color.” The one-night-only performance at 4:00pm on Sunday, December 10, will be held at The Grand Opera House, 818 N. Market Street in downtown Wilmington.
“Carols in Color” is a holiday dance musical that retells the story of Christ’s birth according to the gospel of St. Matthew through contemporary music, exuberant dance and powerful narration. It features some of Philadelphia’s premiere vocalists paired with the soul-stirring movements of Eleone Dance Theatre and Eleone Connection of Philadelphia.
A meet-the-artists reception, also sponsored by AARP, will follow the performance and will be held at Christina Cultural Arts Center, 705 N. Market Street in Wilmington. The performance is additionally supported by sponsorship from Chase, WSFS, United Way of Delaware’s Revive the Village and the Black Heritage Education & Theater Group.
Christina Cultural Arts Center Executive Director H. Raye Jones Avery is thrilled to have AARP return for the 3rd year as “Carols” Premiere Sponsor and supporter of Christina’s rich artistic and cultural presence in Wilmington.
“We’re grateful for the generous support that AARP and all our corporate sponsors provide for arts and culture in Delaware. Christina is committed to making our community stronger through these partner collaborations and through the transformational power of the Arts.”
“AARP enjoys celebrating the holiday season with the community at ‘Carols in Color,'” said AARP state director Lucretia Young. “Our mission at AARP is to make life better for all. Beautiful events like this one bring our communities together and enhance the quality of life for families and neighbors alike.”
The “Carols” program, now in its 26th year, brings the entire community together to celebrate the holiday season in a moving performance that melds music, theater and dance. “It is one of the truly distinctive holiday performances you can experience in this region,” Avery says.
