Coloradans can learn how to protect themselves from scams from one of the world’s most respected authorities on forgeries and embezzlement: Frank Abagnale.

For more than 40 years, Abagnale has been a consultant to the FBI. But in his youth, he used fake identities to cash millions of dollars in fraudulent checks. Those exploits were later depicted in the 2002 movie Catch Me If You Can.

Abagnale will speak at the Arvada Center for Arts and Humanities in Arvada on Thursday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m. The free event is sponsored by AARP Colorado. To register, call 877-926-8300 toll-free.
