On Friday, Oct. 18, at 10:30 a.m., AARP Connecticut hosted a Tele-Town Hall Forum with the candidates for Connecticut’s 5th Congressional District, Congresswoman Jahana Hayes and former State Senator George Logan. The recorded live stream of the call is available at this link on AARP Connecticut’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/aarpct.
The tele-town hall forum – it was not a debate – was an opportunity for AARP Connecticut and the voters to ask the candidates for Connecticut’s 5th Congressional District questions that are important to people 50-plus and hear their responses in real time in advance of election day on November 5. The forum covered a variety of topics such as Caregiving, Social Security, Medicare, Prescription Drugs, and Livable Communities.
Voters 50-plus are the majority in every election, and they decide who controls Congress and the White House. In fact, in 2022, 62% of the electorate in Connecticut was 50-plus. The general election in Connecticut is an opportunity for them to make their voices heard on the issues that matter to them.
AARP Connecticut is working to ensure all residents have the information they need about any recent changes in election law and how those might impact them as well as the important issues that are on the ballot in 2024. Voters can find trusted, up-to-date information on how, where, and when to vote in Connecticut, including about the changes that may affect how you can cast your ballot, by visiting our online election guide at www.aarp.org/ctvotes.
