Meet Authors at National Book Festival Sept. 24

NL-book disrupt aging

The 16th annual Library of Congress National Book Festival will be held at the D.C. Convention Center on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. More than 100 authors, illustrators and poets will discuss their work, sign books and interact with readers of all ages.

AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins is one of the featured authors, along with Stephen King, Annette Gordon-Reed, Ken Burns, Salman Rushdie, Bob Woodward, Geraldine Brooks, Kwame Alexander, Joyce Carol Oates and Douglas Brinkley. Jenkins will discuss her book Disrupt Aging, which encourages people to change the conversation about aging and to look at the opportunities aging affords instead of seeing it as a time of decline.

AARP has cosponsored the festival five times and has worked with the Library of Congress on oral history initiatives such as the Veterans History Project and Voices of Civil Rights.
