If you’re a veteran, the nation honors you on Nov. 11. If you are also a low-income D.C. resident 60 or older, you may qualify for assistance from AARP Legal Counsel for the Elderly (LCE) Veterans Advocacy Project.

The project helps vets and surviving spouses with filing for Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) pension claims and disputing debts the VA says they owe.

The nation’s capital is home to about 29,000 vets. A recent VA study found that at least 5 of the top 10 problems leading to veterans’ homelessness cannot be solved without legal help.
